Erica Jane Marcassa,
Your Lawyer in Timmins
Growing up in Haileybury, Ontario, Erica is passionate about providing legal services in Northern Ontario and is thrilled to be offering legal services to the great people of Timmins and the surrounding districts.
Erica obtained her undergraduate degree at Carleton University, where she double majored in Law and Women’s and Gender Studies. After finishing her undergraduate degree, she traveled to Iqaluit, Nunavut where she lived and worked until she attended Lakehead University’s Bora Laskin Faculty of Law where she received her Juris Doctor in the Spring of 2019, graduating with First Class Standing.
Erica’s passion for continuous learning is what pushes her to continue to gain a deeper understanding of the law and how it can be used to serve individuals and the community as a whole. This passion has led Erica to pursue a Master of Laws degree, which she is currently completing at the University of Ottawa. As a firm believer in both public legal education and access to justice, Erica has worked and volunteered with organizations such as the Ontario Justice Education Network and the Law Society of Nunavut on various projects promoting both access to justice and public legal education efforts. Erica understands that the law can be intimidating for many and visiting a lawyer can be a stressful event, at a time where one may already be feeling vulnerable, this is why Erica incorporates these important principles into her practice, ensuring all of her clients’ legal needs are met.
Growing up in Northern Ontario herself, spending her summers between Timmins and Iroquois Falls and choosing to remain in Northern Ontario to attend law school in Thunder Bay, Erica is familiar with the unique needs of residents of Northern Ontario and is pleased to offer services in Family, Wills (Estate), Employment, Immigration and Criminal Law.
